The advanced gaming chip manufacturer Nvidia, based in the United States, has released a modified version of its product in order to comply with the export limits imposed by the United States on China.
According to Reuters, a spokeswoman for Nvidia said that the chip, which has been given the name GeForce RTX 4090 D, includes improved performance, efficiency, and visuals that are driven by artificial intelligence. Additionally, the chip is scheduled to be released in China in the month of January. The spokesperson emphasized the chip’s compliance with the export limits imposed by the United States government, highlighting the substantial collaboration that took place throughout the development of the product.
Following the announcement of export regulations made by the Biden Administration in October, Nvidia has made its first foray into China-centric chips with the release of the GeForce RTX 4090 D. These regulations resulted in the blocking of two artificial intelligence chips, the A800 and the H800, as well as the high-end gaming chip RTX 4090, all of which were designed specifically for demand in the Chinese market.
Nvidia Values : Gaming Chip for China
Earlier rumors that were published in the chip industry journal SemiAnalysis in November pointed at the possibility that Nvidia will perhaps debut three new artificial intelligence chips for the Chinese market around November 16. On the other hand, Nvidia informed its Chinese clients about a delay in the debut of one of these chips a month ago. The remaining two chips have not yet been displayed on Nvidia’s website in China.
China is of essential importance to Nvidia, as the company contributes more than 90 percent to the artificial intelligence chip industry in China, which is worth seven billion dollars. According to Cointelegraph, the United States of America and Taiwan are two other significant markets for Nvidia. Together, these two markets account for around 33 percent of the company’s total income.
Nvidia reported record-breaking sales of $18 billion in the third quarter of 2023, citing generative artificial intelligence as the key revenue driver. This was in spite of worries over stringent export limits to China. Analysts believe that restrictions imposed by the United States could potentially create opportunities for local competitors like Huawei Technologies.

Slower Chip for the Chinese Market
Nvidia has been given permission to sell artificial intelligence chips to China, with the exception of those with the highest processing power, according to the clarification provided by US Commerce Secretary Raimondo in an interview with Reuters on December 11. According to a document submitted by the Securities and Exchange Commission on October 17, the Nvidia RTX 4090 was included on the list of chips manufactured in the United States that are subject to export restrictions.
